MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAM LOUISVILLE RACERS

RACING
Members in good standing shall race no fewer than 8 races in a rating year, earn a minimum of 10 points in the Annualized Rating System (see attached), and have no more than one four month rating period in a racing year with a Poor rating. Team status of members having two rating periods with a Poor rating in a year will be evaluated by the Leadership Committee. Team members in good standing may be placed on the Non-Active roster for medical and/or personal reasons.
Races may be in Road, Cross, Mountain, Time Trial, or Track competitions. Race starts shall be sanctioned by USCF, ABR, KYMBA, UCI, Kentucky State Games and/or other widely recognized State, National, and World bicycle racing organizations.
Members in good standing shall record the following information on the Team Louisville website within two weeks of the race date: Name of Race, Race Date, Racing Category entered and Placement. Failure to record this information in a timely manner may lead to forfeiture of the racing credit for rating and reimbursement.
TRAINING
Members in good standing shall participate in no less than 10 team training sessions in a rating year. Official Team Louisville training sessions are those planned by Team Coaches, Ride Captains and/or Race Captains, are posted on the team calendar at least three days prior to the session, and have specific training goals and provide structure to achieve those goals.
Members in good standing are required to record their participation in official Team Louisville training sessions within two weeks on the team website. Failure to record this information in a timely manner may lead to forfeiture of the team training credit for rating and reimbursement.
VOLUNTEERING
Members in good standing shall provide no fewer then 8 hours in a rating year volunteering to help with the planning and facilitating of Team Louisville racing events. These events include but are not limited to: L'Espirit Road Race, Wendell Moore Cross Race and the Shelbyville Time Trial Series. Events automatically included are Team Louisville sanctioned events. Additional public sanctioned events can be included at the discretion of the VP of Racing in agreement with the Leadership Committee. Examples of these types of events include the USGP Cyclocross races, the Masters Nationals, and the Senior Games.
Members in good standing shall post a record of their mandatory volunteer hours on the Team Louisville website within two weeks of the completion of the event. Failure to record this information in a timely manner may lead to forfeiture of the team volunteer credit for rating and reimbursement.
Volunteering for community biking events, while highly encouraged, is not a mandatory
requirement for members in good standing. However, those Team Louisville members who volunteer for the following public events can substitute one volunteer effort (minimum of two hours per event) for one race start. Those events are: The Mayor’s Hike and Bike (2 separate annual events) and the LBC Old Kentucky Home Tour (OKHT). Other events may be added at the discretion of the VP of Racing. Participation in any of these events must be posted on the Team Louisville website within two weeks of completion in order to receive credit. Failure to record this information in a timely manner may lead to forfeiture of the team volunteer credit for rating and reimbursement.
TEAM OFFICIALS
Team administrators and managers (includes VP of Racing, Team Race Captains, Team Treasurer, Uniform Manager, Team Sponsors, Official Coaches, Web Manager, Team Photographer and Team Artist) shall be considered members in good standing while performing the duties of their respective jobs in a competent manner.
NEW MEMBERS
All individuals wishing to join Team Louisville shall be referred by a team member in good standing. The same member in good standing will become the mentor to the individual seeking to become a team member. The mentor will inform and guide the prospective new member as to his or her responsibilities in regards to racing, training, volunteering, record keeping and appropriate team conduct. Referrals for new members who have never raced will take place between September1 and December 31 (referral and evaluation period). Licensed racers with racing experience seeking membership to the team, may be accepted at any time during the rating year and work toward member in good standing status (requirements will be pro-rated). These potential new members will be evaluated and approved by the Leadership Committee. Requirements for member in good standing status for new members are the same as for the existing membership.
CONDUCT
Members in good standing shall conduct themselves with the highest standards of sportsmanship while competing and training, displaying a respect for their fellow teammates, competitors, race administrators, judges, and the rules of the road and racing. Team Louisville members considered to be in violation of appropriate standards of conduct may forfeit their status as a member in good standing and could be dismissed from the team. Final evaluation on conduct warranting dismissal will be determined by the VP of Racing and the Team Louisville Leadership Committee.
Louisville Bicycle Club Membership
Team Louisville is the racing team of the Louisville Bicycle Club. As such, all members of Team Louisville are required to be dues paying members of the Louisville Bicycle Club.
