To our Sponsors,
We are now two races into the eight race McDonald’s Kentuckiana Spring Classic Series presented by Apex Therapy. Both races provided a little bit of the agony of defeat as well as the thrill of victory. The first race, on March 14 th at Long Run Park racers were greeted with cold, wet, rainy conditions that were less than desirable. Many riders had an off day and our races didn’t quite go as planned – the overall event, however was a success in that there was a total of 201 competitors who braved the 40 degree rainy day to kick off the season and race their bikes. The 201 registrants included 64 walkups who decided that very cold and rainy day to race! The strong turn-out likely had much to do with the fact that it was the first race of the season, many riders were just itching to get out & show off all the winter training and the ad that was placed on the site promoting the race got an unprecedented 20,306 views and 115 clicks in 18 days.
And speaking of views and clicks, when WebGuy has a chance to compile all the numbers and analytics, we’ll update you on the BikeClicks.com news and happenings – the site recently reached the very exciting milestone of 1,000 members, and traffic has doubled since we have added some new social networking features.
Back to Long Run, however - the other bright light to the day in addition to the strong showing of racers from the area, was the coffee provided by Heine Bros. Coffee. We had a table set up under a tent and displayed the Heine Bros. banner, making the BikeClicks/Team Louisville bus THE place for all racers, volunteers and spectators to hang out. It was indeed a welcome sight for some very chilly folks! The coffee was such a hit that one of the first questions we got when the bus pulled into the 2nd race of the season in Lexington on the 21st was, “Hey, did you guys bring some coffee?”
You can see that one of our Cat 3 sponsored riders, Joe Collins is warming up on his trainer with a cup of coffee, and another Cat 3 rider, Chris Nevitt, oversees the coffee station while he warms up under the coffee tent! Many thanks to Heine Bros for this welcome and delicious comfort on the first race day! Heine Bros has graciously offered to provide coffee at three more local spring series races – our schedule is listed on the team site: www.teamlouisville.bikeclicks.com.
The BikeClicks/Team Louisville bus has become a central point of activity at each race we participate in. It has become synonymous with our team and offers a perfect opportunity for us to promote and support our sponsors – if you have products or services that you would like us to present or represent, let us know! Additionally, our sponsors are always welcome and encouraged to be an “expert” on a topic they feel may be of interest to the cycling community by writing an article that we’ll feature in an upcoming article section on BikeClicks.com. The Positive Effects of Caffeine for Athlete’s Recovery, or How to Recover From or Prevent Injury, How to Save for this Expensive Sport, etc … if you have an idea, let me know!
Our new team website is still in some final stages of tweaking - and we invite you to have a look. This will serve as our communication to you, our sponsors and the community as a whole. We want to ensure that you are properly represented and ask that if you have any additional information for your individual sponsor pages, that you email me with anything you’d like added!
Lastly, (and I saved the best for last – that thrill of victory part I mentioned above) BikeClicks/Team Louisville had a stellar day at the races in Lexington this past weekend. Our team worked well together in every single race and came away with 3 wins and many top 10’s! Aaron Mundy won the Men’s Cat. 3, Charles Garner took the first win of the day in Men’s 4/5, and Teri Meek won the Women’s Cat 4 race. We hope to have some race reports in our News section soon!
As always, thanks for your continued support and sponsorship. Happy Spring & Happy Riding!
