The open squad is the developmental wing of BikeClicks / Team Louisville.  Our squad is comprised mainly of racers who are relatively new to the sport of cycling and are looking for competition experience, as well as experienced racers who serve as coaches and mentors. This aspect of BikeClicks / Team Louisville is the place where those who think they want to race can guage their interest and where our team can guage new talent.

The mission of the open squad is to develop new racers across the Kentuckiana area and allow for up and coming racers to upgrade into higher categories of racing.  We exist to teach new racers the basics of bicycle racing and safety and to act as a springboard to more advanced levels of racing.

During the 2008 season, the men's open squad saw one of our members take first place in the overall standing of the Spring Training Series.  We also saw a number of our members upgrade to category 3 racers, moving from our squad to the BikeClicks / Team Louisville sponsored category 3 racing squad.

For 2009, the open squad plans to not only place at least one of our members on the podium for the Spring Training Series, but to also place one of our members on the podium in each of the races in which we participate.  We also plan to have each of our members upgraded to the next category of racing status by the end of the road season.

Currently, the open squad has a large number of racers, both new and experienced.  The size of the squad varies each year, depending on the interest of new racers and the number of racers who upgrade to higher levels of racing.
